Get into Umpiring

To join NPUA, members are nominated by their area for the level 3 umpiring or level 3 umpire coaching award. If they are successful in their assessment, they become members of NPUA.

We work closely with England Hockey, as well as the area officiating committees, to support with the recruitment of new umpires. Whether you are an experienced national league player thinking of hanging up your stick, a young person with an interest in officiating, or a long-term hockey enthusiast who wants to give something back, umpiring can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

In collaboration with England Hockey, NPUA also supports the development and performance of England’s international umpires. We operate a transparent pathway to give our international umpires the best opportunity to reach the top level. More information about this pathway can be found here.
